Sevatec is the preeminent mid-tier agile-focused company serving the national security sector. We are seeking a Cloud Solutions Architect within our Chief Technology Officer’s Innovations Team to serve as the corporate thought leader across our cloud technology area.  Sevatec’s Cloud Solutions Architect will play an integral role in executing our strategic plan in all areas of cloud across organic growth, operational delivery and technology advancement.


    With organic growth, you will have a leadership role working with Business Development and Operations in developing technology roadmaps, intellectual property investment strategies and complex technical responses to customer requirements, resulting in innovative and winning solutions for Sevatec’s federal clients. 


    In Operations, you will directly support project start-ups, critical executions and implement innovative solutions to advance our customer’s mission. While on contract, the Solutions Architect mentors key staff and helps transfer knowledge of new technologies across the company’s portfolio of programs.


    Technology advancement consists of institutionalizing that program knowledge within the firm, developing discriminating intellectual property, maintaining communities of cloud subject matter experts (SME), creating training materials to ensure consistent proficiency throughout the company and projecting Sevatec’s thought leadership within the technology community through speaking engagements and social media. 



    • Coordinate with Capture and Proposal Managers to create proposal strategies for developing discriminating win themes to address customers’ business challenges throughout the business development lifecycle to include sources sought, requests for information and proposal responses.
    • Identify and manage SMEs, technical writers and consultants to address the requirements, instructions, and evaluation criteria set forth by the solicitation and in Sevatec’s requirements-driven outline.
    • Research, create and review information in support of management approaches, technical approaches, and past performance volumes.
    • Own the complex cloud-based technical solutions, Integrated Master Schedules and Work Breakdown Structure during the proposal lifecycle and serve as the lead technical author in creating winning solutions, inclusive of color team reviews.
    • Interface with illustrators to conceptualize graphics, figures, tables and other presentation techniques to optimize the presentation of information.
    • Lead the development of proposal demos, briefings and oral presentations which illustrate Sevatec’s technical depth and innovations in the areas of cloud engineering.
    • Support the overarching pricing strategy, formation of staffing plans and development of the basis of estimates that align to the technical and management approaches.
    • Coach program teams and customer organizations through all components of the cloud migration as the technical SME.
    • Develop defined roadmaps and plans on a program team to cost-effectively migrate a customer’s current application infrastructure to the cloud which reduces hardware footprints and improves IT service delivery performance; communicate methodologies used and results achieve in key meetings with customers.
    • Determine cost and pricing of cloud services including labor, data center, CSP services and other factors that impact operational costs.
    • Assist in building, delivering, and managing hybrid cloud environments leveraging services provided predominantly by AWS and Azure.
    • Identify infrastructure metrics to baseline program performance and identify improvement results.
    • Support product innovation utilizing DevOps delivery practices.
    • Research, design and advocate new technologies, architectures and products for federal cloud transformations; create prototypes and proof-of-concepts and training materials.
    • Maintaining communities of cloud engineering SMEs.
    • Project thought leadership within the technology community through speaking engagements and social media.


    • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or similar preferred.
    • Must have 10+ years of experience with 5+ years of recent experience as a solution architect and technical proposal leader on multiple opportunities ranging from $10M - $250M.
    • More than 5 years of relevant cloud engineering experience building, delivering and managing hybrid cloud environments; proficiency in AWS or Azure preferred.
    • Demonstrated ability to grasp new concepts, develop solutions from loosely defined business problems by leveraging cloud technologies and write about complex subject matter.
    • Proven utilization of IaaS, PaaS, SaaS models across small and large scale architectures, including logging and monitoring.
    • Extensive experience with Virtual Private Clouds (VPCs), Subnets, Routing Tables, Access Control Lists (ACLs), Security Groups, Direct Connect, Rout 53, DNS, and Load Balancing.
    • Experience with IAM and other AWS services (e.g. Elastic Beanstalk, SNS, and SQS).
    • Experience with object, block and archive storage (e.g. AWS Glacier).
    • Strong programming skills in software operating systems and tools such as Ubuntu/RedHat(CentOS)/AWS Linux, Windows Server, LAMP, IIS, Tomcat, AWS Lamda, Chef, Ansible, Stash and Puppet.
    • Skilled at effective utilization of database environments (e.g. MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MS SQL).
    • Skilled at estimating costs and factors that impact cost of operations (e.g. AWS Simple Calculator).
    • Knowledge of FedRAMP, ATO, and the implications of C&A.
    • Cloud Solutions Architect certifications such as AWS Professional (preferred), Associate or similar.
    • Must have exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to both work independently and function effectively as a member of a team with a diverse range of skills, experience, and personalities.
    • Excellent time management and organization skills, handling multiple simultaneous projects with stringent deadlines.
