Overview

The Business Analyst/Scrum Master serves as the liaison between IT personnel and business owners and as a role model and a servant leader helping team members realize their maximum potential by removing obstacles and empowering the team to deliver.  The Business Analyst/Scrum Master cultivates a culture of pro-activeness in the team and encourages the team to think holistically about the development effort.  This role ensures that basic principles of Agile development are effectively followed by team and ensures that the team is continually improving their processes.

Responsibilities

  • Elicit customer requirements using techniques such as interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, task and workflow analysis
  • Collaborate with Product Owners (PO), Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and developers to understand the customer needs and translate that into the product backlog
  • Evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs
  • Define detailed stories with applicable acceptance criteria in collaboration with the Product Owners and technology team
  • Assist the Product Owner with the development of the team’s backlog in JIRA and assist with regularly scheduled grooming sessions
  • Work closely with developers to support the Agile development process
  • Ensure that the team understands requirements to successfully meet business goals
  • Inform Product Owner if changes occur that will impact delivery to the business
  • Facilitate Agile ceremonies such as daily sprint stand-ups, grooming, planning, review, and retrospectives and ensure that these sprint ceremonies progress effectively
  • Facilitate discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution
  • Builds a culture of trust with stakeholders and within the scrum team and encourages open communication regarding the work at hand
  • Create an environment of continuous improvement by helping the team identify areas of the development process that can be improved and helping the team commit to and deliver improvements in those processes

Qualifications

  • Associates degree and/or 5+ years of experience; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Excellent data analysis, communication skills, knowledge of SQL. Exp. leading Agile teams & knowledge of requirements processes.  Primary interface to DBIS POs
  • Understanding of the basic fundamentals of software development processes and procedures.
  • 2-3 years of experience with SQL, basic SQL skills
  • Working knowledge of Agile development and best practices
  • Minimum of 2 years of software requirements analysis
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, executives, managers, and subject matter experts.

 

Security Clearance: US Citizenship is required along with the ability to obtain an Agency Suitability Clearance.
