Sevatec, Inc. is looking for a Senior Solutions Architect with a specialization in Big Data technologies to support key programs at Sevatec and our Chief Technology Officer’s Innovations Team. The candidate will be responsible for the architecture and implementation of big data analytics including building and integrating efficient scalable infrastructure with technologies like Hadoop, Spark, Kafka and NoSQL data stores. The Big Data Engineer will work closely with clients, data stewards, project/program managers, and other IT teams to turn data into critical information and knowledge that can be used to make sound agency decisions.


As a member of the I-Team the candidate will have a technical leadership role working with Business Development and Operations developing solutions to complex government challenges through the capture and proposal development process. The SA will evaluate customer requirements and produce innovative and winning solutions across Sevatec’s core competencies. The SA will be responsible for the technical solutions needed to win our most complex and strategic deals.


Big Data Engineering

  • Maintain and upgrade big data infrastructure components.
  • Collaborate with teams to performance tune big data clusters.
  • Advise teams on best practices related to big data clusters.
  • Apply hardening scripts on the big data clusters.
  • Collaborate with interface teams to ensure stable services using JDBC/ODBC connections.
  • Models and frames business scenarios that are meaningful and which impact on critical business processes and/or decisions.
  • Identifies what data is available and relevant, including internal and external data sources, leveraging new data collection processes, as appropriate.
  • Develops innovative and effective approaches to solve client's analytics problems and communicates results and methodologies.
  • Works in iterative processes (following Agile methodologies) with the client and validates findings

Pursuit/Capture Assistance

  • Participate in technical solution strategy for proposal submission.
  • Identify and select the best technical solutions and approaches to meet anticipated or actual acquisition requirements.
  • Participate in solution design and the development of key artifacts including, but not limited to architectural models, process diagrams, concepts of operation, etc. 
  • Partner on technical recommendations, collateral and RFI/SSN responses to engage prospective customers and position Sevatec to win. 

Solutioning & Proposal Assistance:

  • Ensure readiness of solution and proposal support team to prepare a compelling and compliant response to the government solicitation
  • Lead development of the Technical volumes and orals presentations for proposals
  • Coach and advise more junior solution architecture and proposal support resources
  • Partner with proposal team as the technical volume lead
  • Ensure integration of technical solution with all sections and volumes of the proposal
  • Review proposals and provide critical feedback needed to strengthen our solution and proposals
  • Author Technical volume introductions, key sections and orals slides including developing compelling graphics




  • Hands-on experience with AWS infrastructure including cloud formation templates
  • 1-2 years’ experience with Big Data (e.g. Hadoop, Apache Spark)
  • 1-2 years’ experience scripting in Python or Scala
  • 3-5 years’ experience with SQL
  • Strong teamwork, co-ordination, planning and influencing skills
  • Self-driven, and ability to work at pace in a dynamic organization
  • Excellent analytical, communication and organizational skills


Desired Skills/Experience:


  • Federal contracting experience, specifically DHS
  • Related technical certifications
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum.

Clearance: US Citizenship is required along with the ability to obtain an Agency Suitability Clearance.
