  • Overview

    Sevatec is seeking a talented and driven Accounting Associate to join the Accounting Team within the Finance Department. He/She will be responsible for providing accounting support to Staff Accountants and other managers within the department. Records routine/recurring Accounts Payable general ledger entries (processing vendor invoices, interfacing with vendors, etc.), ensures all Accounting files are complete and maintained as needed, and records cash receipts. The Accounting Associate reports to the Sevatec Controller and is expected to assist accounting personnel as directed.


    • Process all A/P (vendor invoices, expense reports) for payment in accordance with prescribed deadlines.
    • Apply applicable job codes, obtain cost approval where necessary, enter vouchers into JAMIS system.
    • Ensure vendor invoices do not exceed provided funding, where applicable.
    • Prepare backup documentation for check runs.
    • Perform accounting and clerical functions to support the Finance Department.
    • Record cash receipts daily matching payments to invoices.
    • Research, track, and resolve accounting problems.
    • Record G/L transactions JAMIS.
    • Contact individuals/vendors with delinquent accounts (ex. Missing invoices).
    • Provide additional support as needed to the Accounting Team.


    • Must have at least one (1) year of relevant and related accounting experience; preferably with a federal contractor company
    • Must be highly organized. Must be able to multi-task, establish priorities and organize efficiently.
    • Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite (especially Excel) and with accounting software is essential; JAMIS expertise preferred
    • Must possess the ability to analyze and resolve cost discrepancies
    • Must possess excellent business communication and problem-solving skills.
    • A working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) is a plus
