  • Overview

    Sevatec, Inc. is looking for a talented Database Architect to add to their dynamic team supporting a highly visible federal contract. The position will have responsibility for the development of enterprise-wide data architecture, providing oversight of the data architecture artifacts, and mentor delivery team in the application of the data architecture. 

    Responsibilities

    • Providing subject matter expertise in design patterns, programming languages, implementation approaches, data migration, and other technical areas related to application and database development.  
    • Proactive Application, Platform, and Database tuning. 
    • Shall develop and execute data operation strategies/plans that meet the functional and non-functional requirements, meet database development and migration requirements, and be deployable and fully tested in preparation for production deployment. 
    • Perform data migration to include extraction, cleansing, database refactoring, and verification of data as applications are moved from on-premises to SaaS/PaaS solutions.  
    • Performing hands on technical DBA work including requirements gathering, data/database/ETL architecture analysis/design as part of database administration. 
    • Ability to identify and resolve database architecture issues that might impact ability to meet requirements. Define database standards to support multiple RDBMS on various operating systems. 
    • Ability to design and engineer high volume, business critical, high availability OLTP and OLAP applications. 
    • A deep understanding of technical database and development work, the impact of logical design decisions on the technical database and application infrastructures. 
    • Reviews and analyzes on-going customer requests for new data elements to be brought into the existing model, for customizations or cross-walking of existing data elements, for computation of new fields based on customer-provided business logic, combinations of existing data elements, etc. 
    • Partner with Business Analysts and internal customers to improve our data coverage and analytic capabilities; Develop project plans, including accurate timelines, project documentation, and performance benchmarks for the development of new features  
    • Continuously improve the performance of features; analyze, diagnose and correct performance problems Detect, diagnose, and repair data quality errors and identify and implement technical and process improvements to prevent future data quality errors  

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree and 10 or more years’ experience with designing, implementing, and tuning relational databases (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL), “NoSQL” databases (e.g., Cassandra, MongoDB), and data marts/data warehouses. 
    • Maintain a high degree of expertise in the use of the tools and methodologies of data analysis, database administration, and PL/SQL development and performance analysis and tuning as well as providing assistance and training in the use of these tools and methodologies. 
    • Provide leadership in the areas real-time reporting architecture and design. 
    • Communicate at a business function level with technology personnel in both verbal and written communication. 
    • Maintain a high degree of expertise in the use of the tools and methodologies of data analysis, particularly repository and data modeling; as well as providing technical direction, 
    • Assistance and training in the use of these tools and methodologies. 
    • Strong technical background of database architecture and data governance. 
    • Strong presentation, analytical and diagnostic skills 
    • Knowledge of full project lifecycle and ability to communicate requirements to clients and developers  
    • Strong teamwork, co-ordination, planning and influencing skills. 

     

    Security Clearance:  Must be a US Citizen and capable of obtaining a Government Agency Suitability clearance.
