    Sevatec is seeking to hire a senior Network engineer for a NOAA client in Fairmont, West Virginia. This person will be a part of the System Administration Services team that supports the Cyber Security Center’s network infrastructure across six different geographic sites. This team is responsible for supporting an inventory of approximately 700 devices including Windows servers, workstations, laptops and appliances. The senior network engineer will be responsible for assessing gaps in the current infrastructure and supporting SOPs and will be responsible for making recommendations and implementing improvements and standards across the Cyber Security Center. Additionally, the candidate will act as a mentor, guiding more junior staff.

    Responsibilities

    • Performs assessments of existing solutions, technologies, equipment and processes in order to make recommendations for improvements.
    • Plans and implements improvements based on assessments.
    • Plans new IT infrastructure, to include capacity planning, bills of materials, installation plans and task and milestone planning.
    • Securely maintains the current NOAA server configuration and initiate and coordinate move requests for servers and network equipment.
    • Installs network equipment and servers.
    • Maintain accurate documentation and all system diagrams as part of this task area.  
    • Identify and troubleshoot all aspects of the local and wide area networks when security and/or performance problems occur or outages are reported.
    • Repair problems related to incorrect configuration.
    • Works closely with the IT security Team to maintain the system's security and accreditation.
    • Assist with the implementation of monitoring solutions to track the health of IT infrastructure.
    • Track and apply all required patches.
    • May require off hours support of critical incidents.

    Qualifications

    • 6+ years of experience in providing in-depth design and technical support of Network Security Products.
    • 6+ years of experience in LAN/WAN/Internet services administration
    • 3+ years of experience in managing large technical account activity revolving around network Security products from any vendor. 
    • Proven experience planning, designing and implementing highly available, reliable and secure networking solutions.
    • Demonstrated experience in the creation and management of technical documentation.
    • Candidates with strong analytical and organizational skills with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Shall be capable of working independently as well as part of a larger group under minimal/moderate supervision.
    • Cisco and Juniper experience a plus.
    • Understanding of IP tables
    • Strong understanding of: DNS, NFS, SMTP, HTTP/HTTPS, TCP/IP, UDP, and ARP.

    Desired Requirements:

    • Networking certifications such as CCNA
    • IT security certifications such as Security+, CISSP, etc.
    • Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMWare
    • Experience in providing in-depth design and technical support of Network Security Products.
    • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field
    • Experience working with Linux
    • Experience with remote access solutions
    • Understanding in the following security technologies and protocols: IPSEC, 802.1Q, SSH, SSL, SSL-VPNs, IPS functional knowledge of protocol anomalies, application vulnerabilities, viruses, worms, and trojans.
    • Hands on experience with operating and managing classified and unclassified IT security / Information Assurance solutions in the context of Federal IT Security regulations and guidance such as NIST 800-53, NIST 800-37 and FIPS 199 is a plus.
