    Sevatec is looking for a Business Analyst to support our government project at the Department of Homeland Security on the Consolidated Asset Portfolio and Sustainability Information System (CAPSIS).  The Business Analyst will work closely with the project manager, product owners, stakeholders, and development team to review, analyze and evaluate business systems and user needs. The BA will document requirements, assist in the definition of scope and objectives, and help to formulate systems to parallel overall business strategies while working in a fast-paced agile environment.

    Responsibilities

    • Elicit customer requirements using techniques such as interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, task and workflow analysis
    • Collaborate with Product Owners (PO), Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and developers to understand the customer needs and translate that into the product backlog, and work closely with developers to support the Agile development process
    • Evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs
    • Define detailed stories with applicable acceptance criteria in collaboration with the Product Owners and technology team, and ensure that the team understands the requirements to successfully meet business goals
    • Assist the Product Owner with the development of the team’s backlog in JIRA, thoroughly documenting user stories with all relevant information, and assist with regularly scheduled grooming sessions
    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field and 4+ years of experience.
    • Familiar with relational database, ETL and data visualization concepts.  
    • Experience with Oracle, Informatica, Tableau and ArcGIS strongly preferred
    • Experience working in a fast-paced Agile environment
    • Ability to impact operations and effect change without being confrontational
    • Ability to work independently and with others; Extremely organized with strong time-management skills.
    • Strong presentation skills and self-reliance a must; Detail oriented, analytical and inquisitive
    • Monitor project progress by tracking activity; resolving problems; publishing progress reports; recommending actions
    • Prepare technical reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends
    • Interpret, evaluate and interrelate research data and develop integrated business analyses and projections for incorporation into strategic decision-making
    • Design and perform testing of new dashboards and applications created by the technical teams
    • Create informative, actionable and repeatable reporting that highlights relevant business trends and opportunities for improvement
    • Conduct insightful, ad hoc analyses to investigate ongoing or one-time operational issues
    • Assist where needed in facilitating Agile sprint ceremonies (planning, grooming, retrospectives, demos)
    • Builds a culture of trust with stakeholders and within the scrum team and encourages open communication regarding the work at hand
    • Create an environment of continuous improvement by helping the team identify areas of the development process that can be improved and helping the team commit to and deliver improvements in those processes.

     

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field and 4+ years of experience.

    Security Clearance:  Must be a US Citizen and have the ability to obtain a Government Agency clearance.
